Mysteryland builds a lasting piece of art for Haarlemmermeer

Artist duo ATM builds a lasting work of art on the shore of Big Spotters Hill (you know, the pyramid next to where the Q-dance stage shines). With the 16-meter-high Waterlelie, we thank the municipality and local residents for their years of dedication and cooperation. At Mysteryland, you can admire this gigantic piece of work for the first time, after Mysteryland, the installation is free for all to view. The construction process is as follows today viaInstagram. Marisja Smit and Thijs Trompert have created art several times for Mysteryland. The most famous work is the Mainstage from back in 2014, inspired by the owl as a totem animal. Marisja: “We spent three years to get the necessary permits for this gigantic project. It’s great that we finally started now with our life’s work.” This gigantic piece of art that is mainly made of recycled wood is an ode to the lush environment that is full of beautiful water lilies. The artwork contains 105,000 screws and 5,000 nuts, and bolts. Installation art alongside DJs For years, Mysteryland attracts leading local artists and from abroad. This year the Mainstage is designed by the American artist Kate Raudenbush, who is well known for her work at Burning Man. Balloon Artist Robert Bose comes with his Balloon Chain for the first time to Europe, and the art collective of WERC present their giant light installation on the water at the bottom of the pyramid. Some other projects at the festival are Social Sparkles from Studio Tour and the Kunstpad in cooperation with Cultuur + Ondernemen. Source

pkp stages

With an abundance of new talent just waiting to be discovered, Pukkelpop has decided to add two new stages to give the stars of tomorrow (or the day after) every chance to show off their chops. Ever since its inception, one of the festival’s guiding principles has been to help launch new talent. Indeed, there’s so much new talent nowadays that the organisers have decided to introduce two new stages, viz. the Lift and the Booth. Both stages will accommodate up-and-coming artists and DJs whom the organisers think will become extremely successful in the coming years. LIFT The Lift accommodates some twenty exciting artists that are responsible for long queues at showcase festivals such as SXSW in Austin, Texas. Pop, rock, electronic music – anything goes, just as long as it sounds like tomorrow’s hype! The Lift welcomes promising acts on the verge of a breakthrough; if you want to catch them next year, they’ll likely draw a much bigger crowd on one of the bigger Pukkelpop stages. After all, even the biggest stars have to start small! DISCOVER THE LIFT LINE-UP BOOTH One night you’re hanging out in a gloomy club, the next day you’re squinting at the sun in Kiewit: the Booth is the perfect setting for a no-holds-barred open air bash. Think uniquely personal record collections with Italo disco gems, 12” Detroit techno, forgotten classics from way back when… The Booth offers a mix of everything from hiphop to excellent dance tracks and anything in between! Announcing Even More Bands for Download 2016

We’re still not finished adding more bands to the line up, because we just can’t get enough. New additions to the bill include alt-rock heroes InMe, featuring their signature guitar work and Dave McPherson’s instantly recognisable voice. The Franklys will serve their garage rock topped with a pop twist, while Finnish hard rock-‘n’-rollers Santa Cruz will win you over with their thoroughly modern take on hair metal. Doom-metallers Witchsorrow are bringing their pounding grooves of defiance and attitude in a set you won’t want to miss, and we’re excited to reveal that Welsh five-piece The Dirty Youth, led by Danni Monroe, are also confirmed to make their return to Download. The new bands join an already jam-backed line up headed by Rammstein, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. Take a look at the full list of bands here. Read more at
